The New England Free Jacks further tightened their control over the MLR’s Eastern division over the weekend with a tight 26 – 20 win over a struggling Old Glory DC side.
The win has seen The Free Jacks take a 10-point lead on the table over second place Rugby New York.
Despite the disparity in how the two teams have fared overall this season, Old Glory put up a serious resistance and managed to get over for an epic late score and with it a losing bonus point.
Whilst New England left with the points, it was DC who left with the number one highlight as scrumhalf Danny Tusitala pulled off this beauty of an ankle tap.
The Samoan international who previously played for the Hawkes Bay Magpies has been a regular fixture for DC since his signing in 2021 and has claimed plenty of praise from head coach Andrew Douglas.
“Danny is a leader within our squad, and he brings knowledge, excitement, and energy every day. The younger players look up to him, and the senior players trust him. It’s great to have Danny continue his rugby journey with us, and I know he will again be a key player in the MLR this upcoming season.”
