The Vancouver 7’s came to a conclusion today with Argentina running out as the eventual winners following their 29 – 10 win over Fiji.
The tournament win see’s Los Pumas close the gap on South Africa at the top of the overall table. The Blitzbokke lost out in the quarterfinals to a great Samoan performance before rebounding with wins over France and New Zealand to finish in fifth position.
Overall, the table now shows South Africa on 111 points with Argentina breathing down their neck on 105 points and Australia on 100 points. Behind these three teams there is a significant drop back to fourth placed USA who currently sit on 70 points.
Speaking of Australia, speedster Corey Toole had a moment he would much rather forget in his sides quarterfinal match up with New Zealand.
With the try-line at his mercy following a great break, Toole pulled up and attempted to pass instead of merely diving for the try line.
Despite this moment of madness the Wallabies pushed on for a 19 – 12 win to set up a semin-final match up with eventual winners Argentina.
