Beauden Barrett has just signed on to become the latest Kiwi Red Bull-sponsored athlete. As a way to welcome him to the team, acrobatic pilot Dario Costa took him up for the ride of his life and a thrilling experience he won’t soon forget.
Shortly after the 2018 season, Barrett got the chance to be taken up for an incredible moment that very few are able to experience. The flyhalf was clearly overcome with equal parts fear and excitement, as the plane seemed to defy the laws of physics with loops and barrel-rolls.
Barrett is typically so calm and collected on the rugby field, but being tossed around in the Red Bull cockpit would cause this kind of hilarious reaction in just about everyone. That is unless of course, you’re a crack pilot like Costa.
Costa even took the chance to calmly pepper Barrett with questions from his career and the 2018 season.
Once back on solid ground, Barrett understood just what a special moment it was.
“I can’t wait for you guys to see that… I can’t describe how good it was.”
