Top 14 thrill-seekers Bordeaux-Begles have become one of the most exciting sides in club rugby over the past two seasons.
Jam-packed with international talent, Bordeaux has put on some of the most impressive attacking showings this season.
Facing traditional powerhouse Clermont Auvergne in round 21 of the 2023/24 Top 14 season, Bordeaux were in flying form as they thumped their visitors 41 – 7.
Clearly still hurting from their dramatic 42 – 41 loss to Gallagher Premiership side Harlequins in the Investec Champions Cup quarterfinals, Bordeaux shredded Clermont for the full eighty minutes.
Highlighting this desire and work rate were French international winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Damian Penaud.
Facing a line-out attack on the halfway line, the Bordeaux defence was split by a superb bit of play.
Seemingly on their way for a consolation try in the 77th minute, Clermont would have banked on securing another seven points.
However, Bielle-Biarrey had other ideas as he raced in from his place on the left wing to pull off a miraculous try-saving tackle.
The work rate of the winger was truly impressive, but Clermont still had a chance to score, only to see Penaud pounce off a loose pass before going the length of the pitch!
