Cheslin Kolbe scored his first try for Toulon and produced a stunning score for his second.
Toulon, who were bottom of the Top14 table at one stage this season, racked up a big win against last year’s finalists, La Rochelle. Toulon came on top 41-11 in a high scoring affair in the south of France on Saturday.
The fans who were present in the Stade Mayol in Toulon on Saturday were in for a treat. Not only did they get to witness a high scoring affair of skill and flair from their side, they also got to witness Cheslin Kolbe’s first tries for the club. Kolbe, who is one of the highest paid players in the world had played only 8 times for Toulon this season having missed a large part due to injury.
Kolbe, who is regarded as one of the most electric players in the world, was a world cup winner with South Africa bagging a try in the 2019 World Cup final to seal their 32-12 win over England. Against Ronan O’Gara’s La Rochelle, Kolbe secured his first two tries for Toulon in round 15 of the 2022 campaign.

Kolbe’s first score of the evening came off a kick return where Toulon worked the ball across both sides of the pitch and some lovely interplay allowed Kolbe to finish in the corner.
His second score was nothing short of individual brilliance and magnificence.

Kolbe receives the switch from out-half Louis Carbonel again off a kick return, runs into the space between the defenders, chips the ball, gathers in at full pace on the full and beats the last defender to score. He also finished with a Chris Ashton-esque swan dive.
