The United States has always appeared to be Rugby’s sleeping giants. With American Football, Basketball and Baseball being America’s past times, it has remained an uphill battle for external sports to gain a foothold in the marketplace.
Whilst there is no doubt that the NFL is and will remain American’s most popular league followed by the NBA, College Football and MLB. There has been somewhat of a rugby revolution taking place with the continued development of Major League Rugby.
Like any developing league there has been growing pains but the addition of several high-profile former internationals and legends of the game now plying their trade state side the league has started to gather a strong cult following.
With several sides now boasting high-quality front-line players, the issue that appears to be persisting is depth.
Certainly, this is not a new phenomenon for the sport as we have seen even some of the game’s biggest club and international sides struggle when front line players go down.
What very few sides have had to do is promote a member of their strength and conditioning staff to the front-line playing squad!
This however was exactly what happened when the Dallas Jackals found themselves struggling to fulfil a match day squad following a spate of injuries.
But as the old saying goes, next man up. Without hesitation S&C coach Matoko Noudehou stepped up to the plate to help his side out.
Not only did he step up, but he scored an epic try that required crazy strength and determination to break through the San Diego Legion defensive line. Not only did he make a line-break, but he carried multiple defenders over with him for the score.
In what has been a tough season so far for Dallas this bit of spark from Noudehou is just what the fans needed to see.
