You will not see a better try saving tackle than this one by Duhan van der Merwe.
Worcester Warriors took on Gloucester yesterday in the Premiership Rugby Cup. The Wednesday night clash between the sides was the second of the two semi finals for the competition. London Irish saw off league leaders Leicester Tigers comprehensively by a scoreline of 59 points to 20, a day earlier.
It was Worcester who came out on top in the other semi final, setting up a final with London Irish. Worcester won the game by a scoreline of 39-25 in the end. The final between the sides will be played on the 17th May at Brentford Community Stadium, the home ground of London Irish.
Worcester assistant coach Jonny Goodridge said after the game: “We came here with an incredibly strong squad, but did play a lot of young and inexperienced players who really stood up. “To weather the storm that came in the first half, with a vibrant crowd, and then kick on in the second half, was testament to them. “Duhan van der Merwe wanted to play in this game, he’s a class player. He will suck defenders in and have a big impact on the game”.
However, one astonishing and sensational piece of play came within the first couple of minutes with a superb defensive effort from Duhan van der Merwe. His tackle on Alex Morgan stopped an almost certain try from a nice attack and link from Gloucester inside 8 minutes. Check out this superb tackle below.
That is sensational, @duhanvdmerwe! 👏
