The final two sides of the Women’s Rugby World Cup have now been revealed in nail-biting fashion. Today both England and New Zealand fought their way through extremely tough semi-finals to book themselves a place in next Saturday’s final.
The scintillating games saw the Red Roses defeat a very determined Canadian side 27-19, while the Black Ferns beat an incredibly talented French side 25-24.
The pick of the tries from the two matches has to go to England flyer Abby Dow. Claudia MacDonald ran the ball from her own try line, weaving in and out of the Canadian defence before throwing an audacious pass over the top to Dow, for the winger to then sprint 60 metres evading every opposition challenger to touch down for the Red Roses.

In the other game, it was pure heartbreak for France as Caroline Drouin missed a penalty with 20 seconds left, giving the ball back to the Black Ferns to see the game off.

A tough occasion for Drouin and French rugby, but they will no doubt bounce back.
‘Both games were a great advert for rugby, not just women’s rugby!’
