The 28-year-old spotted an opportunity to steal possession from a loose Camille Lopez pass in the opening five minutes and stormed 50 metres down field to score under the posts.
Etzebeth’s try helped Toulon run in a 41-19 win at Stade Félix Mayol leaving them third in the Top 14 table after 11 rounds.
The international second row joined Toulon after the World Cup earlier this year and has earned 85 caps for South Africa.
