Check out this amazing heel flick which sets up a superb try in Japan.
The Green Rockets took on the Brave Lupus in Japan League One last Sunday in a high-scoring affair.
In round 10 of the 2022 season, sixth place side the Brave Lupus took on the Green Rockets. On 60 minutes, with the game very much in the balance, the Brave Lupus scored this sublime score which featured multiple pieces of ridiculous skill. Brave Lupus led 15-13 points at the time with the last quarter left to play.
Brave Lupus moved the ball wide left off a phase 15 metres in from the touchline. They work a nice wrap around in midfield as flanker Matt Todd moves behind inside centre Nakao Hayata as he sucks in two defenders. Todd slings a wide pass out to winger Atsuki Kuwayama who cuts inside and keeps the play alive with an offload. The offload however is too low for Todd to regather, so he juggles with the ball and flicks it up with his heel.It is then regathered by number 8 Yoshitaka Tokunaga who goes over in the corner to further stretch the Brave Lupus’ lead.
This was a phenomenal try! The question remains, was it luck or pure skill? I think only Matt Todd himself knows the answer to that one!
