Japan shocked Ireland 19-12 in Shizuoka following a brave second half performance by the home side, who now lead Pool A in the Rugby World Cup.

The hosts went into the halftime break 9-12 down thanks to tries by Ireland’s Garry Ringrose and Rob Kearney, but Japan replacement Kenki Fukuoka scored a decisive try in the second half to secure a famous win.
Japan are now three points clear of Ireland at the top of Pool A, with Scotland yet to record a point after losing to the Irish in the opening round.
