Celebrations have gotten underway in Dublin but not for the home team. La Rochelle came to Dublin as defending champions but by all accounts, Leinster once again opened as favourites in the contest.
One man in particular did not feel that the Dubliners were favourites. Munster legend turned coach extraordinaire Ronan O’Gara spoke on multiple occasions about the confidence he had in his side heading into the contest.
In rather unbelieve turn of events, his side would clinch victory in a similar manner to the way they did in last year’s final with a late try.
Whilst a victory of any manner would’ve been sweet, the grandstand finish certainly added to the atmosphere.
In a brilliant moment of adoration for their coach, three La Rochelle players gate crashed their coach’s interview with Irish broadcasters RTE.
Clearly more interested in celebrating with his team, O’Gara excused himself to soak up the atmosphere alongside his team.
It is moments like these that remind us all of why rugby stands tall as a truly great game.
