TJ Perenara is having himself quite the run so far in Japan’s Top League. The All Black scrumhalf combined with Makazole Mapimpi for this 80-metre try, securing a 22-17 victory over Ricoh.
Japan’s Top League has quickly become a hot destination for many of the world’s top-tier players, including the likes of Michael Hooper, Brodie Retallick, and Beauden Barrett to name only a few.
With the scores tied at 17-17, the NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes number nine started the attack by feeding Springbok winger Mapimpi out wide, who then found fullback Tom Marshall who drew in a defender before offloading to the flying All Black.
With the Hurricanes camped just outside their 22, Perenara threw a great skip pass out to Springbok winger Makazole Mapimpi – who was making his Top League debut. Mapimpi found former Gloucester fullback Tom Marshall in support with Marshall drawing a defender in before sending Perenara away for the match-winner.WATCH: TJ Perenara scores one of the best tries of the 2019 World Cup
Perenara clearly feels at home in Japan and has now scored four tries through three matches with his new Hurricanes, perhaps none more important than this game-winner.
