England are forty minutes from history as they lead the All Blacks 14 – 13 at Eden Park in Auckland.
At a venue where New Zealand have won 48 consecutive test matches dating back to 1994, England are putting on perhaps their most impressive performance of the Steve Borthwick era to date.
Chief among the protagonists for England is the mercurial talent of Marcus Smith, who is having his best outing in a white shirt. Pulling the string masterfully, Smith has played a key role in both of England’s first-half tries, as well as playing superbly in open play.
Seemingly having the ball on a string, Smith set up both Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Tommy Freeman for scores through a pinpoint kicking game that brutally exposed the All Blacks backfield.
Despite being dominated at scrum time, England have manged to stay in the fight and seem to have rattled the All Blacks in just about every other department.
The action is now back under way in Auckland so stay tuned for more updates.
Same, same, but different! Marcus Smith has the ball on a string at Eden Park!
Who did it better? Feyi-Waboso or Freeman?! 🤔#AllBlacks #EnglandRugby #NZLvENG pic.twitter.com/G7yUbEYGxM
