Despite losing to local rivals Saracens at the weekend, London Irish left The Stonex with at least a crumb of comfort, courtesy of a monster hit by So’otala Fa’aso’o.
The tackle from the Irish backrower was timed perfectly, had the power of a truck and even resulted in a penalty for his side.
It seems ironic that such a tackle happened at the weekend, during a time when tackle height was once again at the forefront of rugby discussions.
Tackles like the one by Fa’aso’o get crowds off their feet and are an aspect of the game that defines rugby and something that fans latch onto to. It seems bizarre that in the future tackles such as this could be outlawed by the RFU in the community game.

Although Saracens did run out comfortable winners, the hit on Hugh Tizard reflects the entire end of the season by Irish.
This is no longer a side that gets rolled over and is out muscled by team. They have had a meteoric rise up the table in the last 10 games and were right on the cusp of playoffs.
London Irish are definitely a team to watch next year and So’otala Fa’aso’o is a player to avoid for opposition attackers!
