South African sevens legend Cecil Afrika was shown a yellow card while playing for San Diego Legion on Sunday for a blatant act of cheating.
Having played more than 300 times for the South African sevens team, Afrika joined the MLR side earlier this year and was sent to the bin in the first half against the Houston SaberCats.
The 33-year-old winger was chasing back to secure possession on his own try line when he lost control on the ground. However as a Houston player picked the ball up to score the try, Afrika illegally snatched it back while he was lying on the turf, preventing the opposition from scoring.
The end result was a penalty try and yellow card against Afrika and in the end the visitors went on to lose the game 34-32. Full match highlights are available below:
