Australia’s assault on the Super Rugby title for 2023 came to an abrupt end today as the Chiefs saw off the Brumbies 19 – 6 in Hamilton.
Despite the scoreline, the match was hard fought throughout and, at times, bordered on being a defensive slugfest.
Trailing 6 – 3 heading into the break, the Brumbies had a goal line drop out to clear their lines.
Handling the duty was Wallabies fullback-cum-winger Tom Wright, who stepped up to handle the routine kick.
Unfortunately for him and the Brumbies, he would slice the ball with a shank for the ages, which immediately put his team under pressure.
This absolutely shocking from an international fullback…
Tom Wright is a talented player and likely a Wallabies starter but by god that was a howler.#SuperRugbyPacific #SuperRugby #CHIvBRU pic.twitter.com/t1aV5NsPtX
