The conclusion of this season’s Gallagher Premiership is quickly coming into focus with semi-final spots still very much for grabs.
One such side who are currently on the outside looking in are Gloucester who currently find themselves in sixth position just one point behind fourth placed Northampton.
For the cherry and whites a golden opportunity to leapfrog into the top four was narrowly missed as they came up one point short of Bristol this weekend.
The Bears have found themselves way outside of play-off contention this season due to their inability to find consistency.
On their day Pat Lam’s side are capable of beating just about any team in the premiership thus making their current predicament exceptionally frustrating for all Bears fans.
Perhaps their season is best summed up by this ludicrous late and high tackle by centre Sam Bedlow on Gloucester flyhalf Adam Hastings.
Hasting’s had already released the pass by the time Bedlow made contact, to compound the issue he then followed through in an upward motion to finish off the tackle.
Is this the worst shot we have seen this season? There has certainly been contenders, with tackles like this still happening World Rugby’s trial of the shortened red card will surely be put on the backburner.
Red card! 🟥
No drop in height, contact direct to the head, no mitigation, Sam Bedlow is off 🙅♂️
