Following two years of anguish and uncertainty, Worcester Warriors are expected to return to Sixways ahead of the 2025/26 season as part of the RFU’s proposed plans for a Tier 2 league.
The new league will include promotion potential to the Gallagher Premiership and is designed to increase revenue into the second division of English rugby, giving fans and players a more immersive experience than the existing English Championship.
A statement from Worcester Warriors has indicated that although they’ve not built their team for the upcoming competition, they are preparing for the eventuality.
The statement reads: ”Worcester Warriors continue to engage with the Tier 2 Board of the RFU to satisfy the requirements of entry to the league.
“If successful, we are working towards a very tight timescale to ensure we are fit for purpose to play competitive Rugby for the 2025/26 season, alongside all of the other components that need to be in place to ensure we have a great product at Sixways.
“Naturally, we have welcomed support from various organisations and individuals, however, we have not issued any contracts of employment at this stage.”
Just recently, Worcester confirmed that Matt Everard will be taking on the mantle of head coach should the club make their comeback, proving just how serious the club are about returning to its former status.
