A try from the highlights reel of young Blues winger Caleb Clarke shows an uncanny resemblance to the iconic try scored by the late great Jonah Lomu in 1995.
The try scored by Lomu against England at the 95 Rugby World Cup remains one of the most famous tries in international history when he ran over the top of Mike Catt to slam the ball down.
Clarke’s try also came against England but at the U20 World Championships and the similarities are remarkable. The young winger beats the first man as Lomu did back in 95, gets half tripped and still runs over the last defender.
The only real difference is that Clarke offloaded the ball for his teammate to finish off the try.
Clarke has recently broken onto the scene for the Blues in Super Rugby Aotearoa and the 21-year-old made 11 appearances for New Zealand U20s, his full highlights reel is available below:
